Top 6 WWE and WCW Rivalries of All Time

Updated: Apr 7

Rivals are what make great storylines and are recipes for great matches. Here are the top 5 of them…

#6 Ricky Steamboat vs Ric Flair

These men created the greatest trilogy in the history of wrestling. They have fought numerous times. Flair and Steamboat had 5 star matches at Chi Town Rumble, Clash Of Champions, and at Wrestle War all in 1989. They built the foundation for what a great rivalry should have.

#5 Undertaker Vs. Mankind

These were scary people. They had numerous amazing matches such as King of the Ring 1998 and at In Your House Buried Alive. Mankind made his debut feuding with The Undertaker, which was a huge success, and made Mankind a BIG hit.

#4 Bret Hart Vs. Shawn Micheals

This rivalry was extremely heated, the two men actually hated each other in real life, which showed on TV. Shawn and Bret were trying to prove who was the better wrestler and that was not a recipe for great matches. Surprisingly, they had AMAZING matches together (they were probably fueled to be a better wrestler, and to be a better wrestler you need to put on great matches). The great matches included, Survivor Series 1992 and the best one, WrestleMania 12 where Shawn Micheals and Bret Hart main evented the PPV in an Iron Man match. All in all, they hated each other but had an incredible rivalry.

#3 Hulk Hogan Vs Andre the Giant

Andre and Hogan had one of the first major rivalries that build WWE (WWF). It started a little before WrestleMania 3, and the two ended up main eventing the biggest paperveiw of the year in an ICONIC match. Their rivalry went on for years in what, at the time was the biggest thing wrestling had ever seen. A classic rivalry that put WWE on the map.

#2 Stone Cold Steve Austin Vs. Vince McMahon

Vince McMahon and Stone Cold had a very unique feud. Vince was an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING heel who showed his heel side every time he was given a mic, which made anyone who stood up to him earn instant favor from the audience. They barely had any matches but were able to put on incredible moments such as Over The Edge 1998 where McMahon did literally everything he could to stop Austin from winning, but Austin still got the job done and beat Dude Love. Also, at WrestleMania 23 he shaved Vince’s hair which was a great moment.

#1 The Rock Vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin

This is definitely the best Wrestling feud of all time. They had 4 incredible one on one matchups, with the best one being at WrestleMania 17 in one of the best pro wrestling matches ever. They are both hugely popular and even when The Rock was heel at WrestleMania 15 and Backlash, The Rock did a great job being heel. But that wasn’t even the best part of their feud, the best part was the storylines they put on, but most importantly the stuff they say on the mic. These men are two of the best wrestlers to ever speak on a mic, they will trash talk, or put on a GREAT argument, and awesome stuff like that.
