Reasons Why WWE’s Booking of Oba Femi Coming Into SummerSlam 2026 is Genius

People have been questioning why Oba Femi is not facing Roman Reigns at SummerSlam and are angry about that. But actually WWE is making a great decision that will not only provide entertainment, but will help the company and Femi. Here are the reasons…

#1 WWE Raised the Stakes Between Oba And Brock

Hell in a Cell Cannot Be Understated

Oba Femi and Brock Lesner have had two matches against each of that were both great. The score is 1-1 in favor of no one, so there has to be a tie breaker. Brock challenged Oba to Hell in a Cell and the crowd gasped in shock. Femi accepted and the match will happen at Minnesota. There will be a trilogy of matches with the third having a stipulation, but not just any stipulation…

#2 Hell in a Cell is Wrestling’s Best Match Type

Triple H Saved This Concept

In the late 2010s and early 2020s the Hell in a Cell concept was ruined by Vince McMahon. Then in 2022 The Game took control of WWE creative and utterly saved the whole stipulation with only having at max one per year, with every one being a classic. There were no HIAC matches in 2025, so everyone is pumped for Oba Vs. Brock.

#3 WWE Can Protect Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn

Oba Would Have to Defeat These Men Ending Their Title Reigns and Momentum

For Oba Femi to be protected he needs to win. If Oba used his King of the Ring for SummerSlam, then Reign’s or Zayn’s World Title reign would be over. Roman hasn’t reached the full potential of his title reign due to terrible booking, so he needs to step it up, and not lose. It would be even more incompetent for Zayn to lose because he won his dream world championship after 10 attempts and needs to hold the gold for a lengthy period of time.

#4 Oba Will Be Looming Around the Main Event Scene

Femi Can Cash in KOTR Any Time

By not facing a World Champion at SummerSlam, Femi did not relinquish the crown. He can use it at any time to challenge for the gold. Fans waiting for Oba to use his KOTR will create suspense, making the moment when he does decide to use it all the more special. WWE could mess this up by booking Oba into a B level PLE or make the right decision to send him to WrestleMania. If he missed his opportunity at SummerSlam, the second biggest PLE, then he neees to go bigger, not smaller, and head to the Showcase of the Immortals. WrestleMania.
