TOP 6 AJ STYLES MATCHES SINCE HIS COMEBACK IN 2024 RANKED

AJ Styles is a phenomenal in ring performer. After his retirement, I am going to make a list of his best matches after his 2024 comeback. From John Cena to Shinsuke Nakamura here it is!

#6 Vs Gunther Monday Night Raw 2026

8.5/10

The first match of 2 between Gunther and AJ Styles delivered, and it delivered big time. The crowd was crazy for AJ and hateful for Gunther, the most hated heel in WWE right now. They traded heavy blows with the crowd right behind them for every step of the way. Styles got the Australian brute into a devistating calf crusher. Gunther tapped, but the ref didn’t see it! Gunther hit a low blow! Then a powerbomb, and 1, 2, 3! Gunther wins.

#5 Vs Cody Rhodes Clash At The Castle 2024

8.5/10

In Scotland, AJ Styles and Cody Rhodes delivered a brutal I Quit match. They used the steel steps, tables, a belt, and steel chairs to beat the daylights out of each other. They fought EVERYWHERE; in the crowd, backstage, and on the entrance ramp. But in the end, Cody Rhodes was about to THROW the steel steps on AJ when AJ muttered the words, “I quit!”

#4 Vs Gunther Royal Rumble 2026

8.75/10

AJ Stlyes and Gunther showcased emotion, chemistry, and brutality in the phenomenal one’s last match in WWE. Gunther hit chops and smashed Styles to the ground many times looking like a world beater in the process. Styles hit all of his great moves to try and save his illustrious career, but overall Gunther was too much for AJ and AJ passed out to the infamous sleeper hold that ended Goldberg and John Cena’s career. This was a perfect ending for a near perfect match.

#3 Vs John Cena Crown Jewel 2025

8.75/10

This match had very little to no build, but the execution was exceptional. John Cena fought AJ Styles in a hard fought war paying homage to all of Cena’s and Styles’s past rivals. The crowd in Australia were rabid for John Cena. As you can see, there were hundreds of fans in yellow John Cena shirts. The crowd was especially loud when Cena hit a huge sister Abigail after countering a phenomenal forearm. I was getting bored of Styles, but this match made me think he should be a world champion, however that never happened.

#2 Vs Shinsuke Nakamura Saturday Nights Main Event January 2026

9/10

Now we’re getting into the greatest of all time level matches. Nakamura vs Styles has been an overall disappointing feud. But, this match in 2026 was ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL. Nakamura brought AJ back to his best with a physical and stiff encounter that wowed even the toughest of critics. I was stunned by the chemistry of these men. AJ targeted the leg of Nakamura and Nakamura hit his best moves to try and stun AJ.

#1 Vs Cody Rhodes Backlash 2024

9.25/10

AJ Styles vs. Cody Rhodes at Backlash 2024 was an absolute show-stealer, blending big-fight drama with top-tier in-ring storytelling. Wrestling in front of a rabid Lyon crowd, Styles threw everything he had at Cody, mixing veteran precision with explosive offense and pushing the champion to his limits with multiple near-falls that had the arena buzzing. Cody matched him beat for beat, showing grit and resilience, even after brutal moments like the powerbomb through the announce desk. In the end, Rhodes survived the Phenomenal challenge and sealed the win with Cross Rhodes, retaining the Undisputed WWE Championship in a match that felt special, emotional, and worthy of its main-event spotlight.
