Top 5 Ric Flair Matches in WCW/NWA And WWE

Updated: Apr 26

Ric Flair is Wrestling’s (WWE and WCW) second best in ring performer. Here are his top 5 matches…

#5 Vs. Barry Windham, NWA World Heavyweight Championship (World Wide Wrestling, January 24 1987)

Rating from the Bros, 9.75/10

It is amazing that Ric Flair can pull off so many AMAZING matches. Yes, this was one of them. It was a technical masterpiece with arm drags, suplexes, and perfect counters. You could easily tell that these men had incredible chemistry because of the insane crowd noise. The crowd cheered like rabid animals for Windham because of the world class sells by Flair in this match. What you probably remember is Flair and Windham being in the four horsemen stable but what you probably didn’t know, is that before the Four Horsemen Flair and Barry had a great rivalry.

#4 Vs. Terry Funk, Clash of the Champions #9

Rating from the Bros, 9.75/10

This was an “I Quit” match to remember. Terry Funk and Ric Flair took the beating of a lifetime, with chops that would stop a normal man from breathing. The crowd was extremely loud which carried both men to the great match that they had. They used the metal barricades, the ring post, and even Terry Funk’s KNEE! This match also had a Ric Flair babyface turn and a Funk babyface turn! After the brawl (Ric Flair won) Funk shook Flair’s hand.

#3 Vs. Ricky Steamboat, WrestleWar 1989

Rating from the Bros, 10/10

This was the perfect end for the greatest triologys of matches in all of Wrestling. When you watch this, you will see that Steamboat and Flair have near perfect chemistry. Some people say this is the greatest of the trilogys of matches between these legends. This is not the last of them on this list!

#2 Vs. Ricky Steamboat, Clash of the Champions #6

Rating from the Bros, 10/10

Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat battled for nearly an hour. Some say this is the best Flair and Steamboat match. One guy even put this match at number 1. They even fought outside of the ring, when flair did a body slam on the outside which was basically concrete. The real fun came in the ring. Both these men put on a classic. This match was declared the best match of the year, but there is one more match between these men.

#1 Vs. Ricky Steamboat, Chi Town Rumble 1989

Rating from the bros, 10/10

This is the DEFINITION of a 5 star wrestling classic. It was fast paced and very fun to see all of the moves add up to create this nearly perfect match. When you see Ricky Steamboat in green and Ric Flair in red you know it was the Chi Town Rumble clash. It was definitely the best WCW match of all time.
