Smackdown this year has been great especially the matches. The matches has wowed me over and over again. Ilia Dragunov and Sami Zayn did the United States open challenge which has had countless great matches. But, only the best of the best matches will feature here in the best matches of Smackdown in 2025.

#6 John Cena vs Sami Zayn

7.75/10

John Cena and Sami Zayn fought in an intense battle over the United States championship. The counters were awesome and so was the pace. They kept it fast and steady. The crowd loved that Cena challenged Zayn for the titl. The only part that hurt the match was the finish. Brock Lesnar came out to attack Cena. This was another attempt to make both competitors look strong while hurting the overall match quality.

#5 Gunther vs LA Knight

8.5/10

You talk about brutality and you’ve got this match. The atmosphere was so so high in this match because whoever won would face John Cena in his retirement tour. That was the reason the crowd was so electric. La Knight fought Gunther with all he had. Gunther fought Knight with all of the moves in his arsenal. But, Gunther won by making Knight tap out, a thing Gunther does best. LA Knight had a great final match before taking a break from WWE for a while.

#4 Ilja Dragnov vs JD Mcdughna

While JD hasn’t had the best year in 2025, this one his best match. Ilja Dragnov was a tough and brutal opponent to beat. The match… it was awesome! There were stiff chops and boots. JD mixed his high flying agile offense with Dragnov’s hard hitting and brutal style. This is a must see match on Dragnov’s US championship run.

#3 Ilja Dragnov vs Sami Zayn

Ilja Dragnov made his surprising return to WWE. Sami was having a world class US championship run, when the tough Ilja Dragnov interrupted Sami’s reign. Wow, this was brutal and it was the beginning of an amazing championship reign by Dragnov. The crowd was electric as well elevating this match to an 8.75/10.

#2 Ilja Dragnov vs Tommaso Ciampa

8.75/10

Ilja Dragnov and Tommaso Ciampa delivered a hard hitting affair leaning into both men’s no nonsense way of wrestling. Ciampa focused on wearing Dragnov down while Dragnov fought back with his signature resilience. The intensity kept on building and building, near fall after near fall until Dragnov outlasted Ciampa in an amazing match testing both men’s strength and skill.

#1 DIY vs Motor City Machine Guns vs The Street Phrophets

All three of these men TORE APART each other in a high flying, fast paced TLC match. This was about as brutal as brutal can get. Montez Ford flew through the air doing a suicide dive flip through two tables, another one over the ring post, and he almost died when he got sent through a ladder. If you thought that was good then listen to this. Angelo Dawkins slammed Johnny Gargano on the edge of the chair and speared Tommaso Ciampa off the ladder, as seen in the picture, through a table! It gets better than that! The machine guns did their finisher through a table to the floor. I am amazed at what these six men could do.
